We are very pleased to announce the formation of the Northern California Cycling Foundation. The NCCF is a non-profit corporation licensed in the State of California. The NCCF was created as a vehicle to support and grow youth cycling in California. To that end, the NCCF has created the Team Specialized Racing Junior Team, which at present features nine nationally ranked junior racers. These juniors will receive extensive support from the NCCF in order to race their bicycles and excel as citizens. That support includes clothing, race entry fees, mentoring and professional coaching. As an adjunct to the Junior Racing Team, the NCCF created the Team Specialized Racing Masters Team. The Masters Team provides the Junior Team with mentoring, coaching, logistics and support. The NCCF is firmly committed to safe, healthy and drug-free racing.
The NCCF is truly excited that in its first year as a racing club, USA Cycling has designated the program as part of their Center of Excellence Program. The Centers of Excellence Program was created and funded by USA Cycling to provide additional financial support for junior and espoir cycling in the U.S. The NCCF is very fortunate to receive this designation and the vote of confidence it represents from the U.S. national cycling federation.
Because the NCCF is a registered non-profit corporation, it relies on the support of individual donors and sponsors for its existence and success. The NCCF has been fortunate enough to have extensive product support from Specialized Bicycle Company, Rudy Project, SRAM components, and Cytosport as well as cash donations from USA Cycling, the Fast Freddie Foundation, Mick Hellman, Thomas Weisel, Russell Hirsch as well as many other individual contributors.
